How licensing works

Ecko is proprietary software. It is free for personal, educational and evaluation use - learning it, building side projects, trying it against a real workload, teaching with it. No key, no registration, no time limit.

Business use requires a commercial licence. If Ecko is running as part of how your company makes money - in production, in internal tooling, in anything shipped to customers - that is business use.

The full terms are in the commercial licence, and the agreement that ships with the binary is the EULA.

Questions we are actually asked

Can I evaluate it at work before buying?

Yes. Evaluation is free, including on company hardware and against your real workloads. Buy a licence when it goes to production.

What counts as one developer?

A person who writes or edits Ecko code. Running a service that happens to be written in Ecko does not make an operator a developer.

Do I need a licence for CI?

No. Build agents, test runners and deploy pipelines are not seats.

What happens if we stop paying?

Anything already deployed keeps running - no kill switch, no phone home. You just cannot ship new work under an expired licence.

Is the source available?

Not at present. Ecko is distributed as prebuilt binaries. Source access can form part of an enterprise agreement where it is a procurement requirement.

Security issues go to security@ecko.sh and are acknowledged within one business day. Licensed customers are told about advisories before they are made public.
