How billing works
Prices are in US dollars. Payment is taken by Paddle, the merchant of record, which is the seller named on your invoice and collects any local sales tax or VAT at checkout.
A Team licence is per developer and runs for one year from the date payment clears, renewing annually until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your Paddle receipt or by writing to support@ecko.sh.
You already have the binary. It is the same file before and after payment, with no licence check built in. A licence takes effect when payment clears. There is no key to enter and no account to activate. See the terms for what a licence covers and the refund policy for the 14 day window.
Questions people ask before paying
- What do I get on the free plan?
- The whole language, all 35 standard library modules, mock mode and offline CI, and the editor tooling and language server. No key, no registration, no telemetry. It is not a trial and it does not expire. What it does not cover is commercial use in production.
- Can I evaluate it at work before buying?
- Yes. Evaluation is free, including on company hardware and against your real workloads. Buy a licence when it goes to production.
- What counts as one developer?
- A person who writes or edits Ecko code. Running a service that happens to be written in Ecko does not make an operator a developer.
- Do I need a licence for CI?
- No. Build agents, test runners and deploy pipelines are not seats.
- What do I actually receive when I pay?
- An invoice from Paddle, immediately. No licence key to enter and no account to activate. The binary is the same free download either way and carries no licence check. What you buy is permission to ship with it. The terms set it out.
- What happens if we stop paying?
- Anything already deployed keeps running. No kill switch, no phone home. You just cannot ship new work under an expired licence.
- Can I get a refund?
- Within fourteen days of a first charge, in full, with no survey and no friction. The refund policy covers what happens after that window.
- Who am I buying from?
- Ecko is published by Machine Republic (Pty) Ltd. Payment is taken by Paddle, the merchant of record, which is the seller named on your invoice and collects any local sales tax or VAT at checkout. Prices are in US dollars.
- How do I cancel?
- From your Paddle receipt, or by writing to support@ecko.sh. A licence runs to the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew.
- Is the source available?
- Not at present. Ecko is distributed as prebuilt binaries. Source access can form part of an enterprise agreement where it is a procurement requirement.
